Distinctive Young Artists’ Pansori Stages
“Ode to Youth – Young Pansori,” stages for young artists with uniqueness, is held at the historic site of Jeollagamyeong (the local government office of the Joseon Dynasty era) where a tranquil and stylish atmosphere can be experienced. Let us feel the unique aesthetic of pansori through the passionate performances of talented young artists.
Kang Hyeonyeong’s Kim Sejong-je Chunhyang-ga
“Kim Sejong-je Chunhyang-ga,” which belongs to the dongpyeon-je (“eastern”) style, was passed down from Masters Kim Sejong to Kim Chaneop and Jeong Eungmin, who established the style in Boseong of Jeollanam-do, and then to Jeong Gwonjin, Seong Wuhyang, and Cho Sanghyeon. This style is the result of partial changes and modifications of literature and musical texts from a Gochang-based tradition led by Shin Jaehyo. It is characterized by its restrained, graceful and delicate expression that reflects the aesthetic tastes of yangban (aristocrat-class) people. Kang Hyeonyeong will perform part of Chunhyangga - from “Ibyeolga” to “Galkkabuda.”
