Performance Introduction

Charm of Traditional Dance Full of Vibrancy and Improvisation

The third stage of “A Morning of Jeonju,” the matinee program of 2024 Jeonju International Sori Festival, focuses on Korean traditional dance in historical contexts. Audiences can meet Jeongjae (court-related) and Gwonbeon (institution for training female entertainers) dances that were performed at the court in the late Joseon Dynasty. The stage will showcase Chuneangmu and the sword dance, one of the most complicated parts in the court dance, and the most representative Sinawi performance and towel dance that belong to the Gwonbeon dance. Choi Eunsook, an expert member of the Jeonbuk State Gugak Center Dance Company, will host the program and provide commentary to help visitor understand traditional dances.
