Performance Introduction

Unusual Collaboration between Male String Quintet ‘Volosi’ and ‘Chae Suhyeon’

A very special collaborative stage that can be experienced at Jeonju International Sori Festival exclusively! Male-string quintet “Volosi,” one of the worldmusic groups representing Europe, and great singer of Gyeonggi-minyo (i.e., folksongs of Gyeonggi Province) “Chae Suhyeon” meet each other for this stage. Volosi that consists of a violist, a cellist, a bassist and two violinists shows stereotype-breaking performances with their own uniqueness and powerfulness. Chae Suhyeon, a member of Folk Music Group at National Gugak Center, presents a variety of colors within Korean traditional music. The audience will be able to meet their very unique collaboration that cannot be experienced in any other places.

"Poland Focus" is a special project commemorating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Poland, in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
