Meet the Diversity of Malaysian Music in the 21th Century!
“Istana Budaya,” which means “Palace of Culture,” is the National Theater of Malaysia and is the country's leading performing arts institiution. On the Sori Festival stage, an ensemble of four musicians from Istana Budaya's “Traditional Orchestra Malaysian (OTM)” will perform. Their music represents the present of Malaysian music in the 21st century, bringing together the music of various ethnic groups from around the Malay Peninsula, including the Malays, Sarawakians, and Orang Asli. The concert will be a rare opportunity to encounter a wide range of Malaysian traditional music, including instruments such as sape, rebana, seruling, ganbus, and other rarely-heard instruments.
