Program

Gangsan-je Simcheong-ga by Hwang Jiyeong

Gangsan-je Simcheong-ga” performed by Hwang Jiyeong, a certified trainee of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Pansori, is a tradition from Park Yujeon, the founder of the Seopyeon-je (lit. western style), and has been passed down to masters Jeong Jaegeun, Jeong Eungmin, and Seong Woohyang, et cetera. It blends the grandeur of the Dongpyeon-je (i.e., eastern) style with the plaintiveness from the Seopyeon-je one, and is characterized by its exceptional musical formality. In addition, it is said that the vocal arrangement is well-structured to express the reality, and that a clear and refined voice is used. The buk accompaniment will be performed by Jo Bongguk, a transmitter of the Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage Samhyeonyukgak.
