Program

Kang Dogeun-je Heungbo-ga by Ryu Changseon

“Kang Dogeun-je Heungbo-ga,” performed by Ryu Chang-seon, a certificated trainee of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Pansori Heungbo-ga, is based on the singing style of master Song Heungrok. This style has passed down to Song Gwangrok, Song Wooryong, Song Mangap, Kim Jeongmoon, and to Gang Dogeun. Characterized by the distinctive intense and powerful vocals of the Dongpyeon-je style, it features dramatic storytelling, rich articulations, and colorful melodic variations. With its witticism and humorousness, this style is relatively easier to understand and entertainable for audiences. The buk accompaniment will be performed by Kim Gwangyoon, the Grand Prize winner in the General Division at the 41st National Gosu Competition.
