Jeong Gwangsu-je Sugung-ga by Kim Gijin
“Jeong Gwangsu-je Sugung-ga,” performed by Kim Gijin, a successor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Pansori, has been passed down from Song Heungrok, the founder of the Dongpyeon-je style, to Song Wooryong, Yoo Seongjun, Jeong Gwangsu, and An Sukseon. It combines the characteristics of the Dongpyeon-je style, which features ujo mode-based powerful vocalization, with the characteristics of the Seopyeon-je one, which is distinguished by its refined, elaborate, and diverse techniques of vocal based on the gyemyeon mode. This style expresses the story text in a formal and elegant way, and shows diverse rhythmic patterns and vocal tones as well as subtle word arrangement and musical articulation. Song Daeeui, a successor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Pansori Gobeop, will perform the buk accompaniment.
