The Charm of traditional Wind Instruments through Jeokeul’s Cool and Witty Sound!
Piri, band, wittiness, mischievousness – all these together depict the group of “Piri Band Jeokeul (JC Crew).” JC Crew, the group that won awards at the “21st Century Korean Music Project” by the Gugak Broadcasting System and the “Kcomfest” hosted by the Lotte Scholarship Foundation, is composed of members with unique personalities, including Nam Kimoon, Oh Yeongbin, Kim Yuwon, Lee An, Yoon Myeongsik, Kim Jingyu, Lee Seungmin, and Kim Byeongcheol. While aiming for an ensemble of wind instruments, the group is exploring various possibilities that maximize the strengths and unique characteristics of traditional Korean wind instruments including hyangpiri, jeopiri, taepyeongso, et cetera.
The festival performance consists of various “playful and witty” pieces composed based on familiar everyday themes from traditional folksongs, children's songs, tales and games. The stage will guide audiences of all ages into a world of peaceful innocence and joyfulness, allowing them to enjoy the unique charm of Korean wind instruments.
