A Special Journey with a Female Quartet from Poland
Learning Workshop of Polish Folk Songs for Children
‘Kosy’ is a Poland-based female quartet consisting of Aleksandra Gronowska, Kasia Pakosa, Anastazja Sosnowska, and Kasia Szetela-Pękosz. Formed in 2019, the group won the award at the International Folk Music Festival Mikołajki Folkowe at the year. After then, the quartet has expanded their range of performance to a variety of European countries including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Scotland. They performed at the stage of the WOMEX 2021, one of the world's largest world music festivals. In 2022, they released their debut album <SIEW (Seed)>, which was later rearranged in a symphony style and released as <SIEW Symfonicznie> in the following year.
At the 2025 Jeonju International Sori Festival, the band will offer a program where the audience can learn Polish music accompanied by live performance. Children will learn and sing Polish folk songs to the lively accompaniment of various instruments including violins, violas, Indian harmoniums, frame drums, percussions, et cetera. Participants will learn the melodies and harmonies of Polish folk songs, as well as the meanings of songs from various regions of Poland, including the southern Silesia region, enjoying a new cultural experience.
